Everything you wish to know about Global Impact Network
Hey there and welcome, fellow change-maker! We are happy to have you open up this written piece and dive into the world of the social media revolution for sustainability that Global Impact Network is.
So why do we exist?
Global Impact Network is the virtual door allowing you to take action anywhere and for any cause. Our app lets you measure your actions through fun and achievable challenges about real-world issues. Whatever gets done, gets measured. Whatever gets measured, gets achieved. Whatever gets achieved, gets associated with one of the 17 Global Goals. Whatever gets achieved gets rewarded. Designed as a race for good; you may contend for badges in your community, organization, corporation, and country, allowing you to be a champion of sustainability.
Sounds great! But how can I sign up?
Easy!
When you go to our web application — https://app.globalimpact.world/ you will be able to see an option on the top right corner to sign up.
Follow the steps from there and upon confirming your account via the e-mail we send out to you, simply type in the code IMPACTCITIZEN (yes, all caps, you can tell we are excited people!)
If you have been invited by a friend, make sure to enter their personalised code instead, as you will earn bonus points.
Don’t forget to invite your friends!
Inviting is also easy — you simply share via any of the badges on your profile. They will get a confirmation e-mail with a unique access code allowing them to sign up to GIN and earn their Impact Citizen Badge and start taking action.
Tip: Invite on Whatsapp or Facebook Groups for wider reach!
What is an Impact Citizen Badge?
Upon creating your account, you will be prompted to participate in several fun tasks that take no longer than 2 minutes in order to earn your first badge — the Impact Citizen Badge! This will allow you to then proceed with using our platform’s full features!
Why?
Because by completing your profile with your interests, SDG’s and hashtags, we will be able to introduce you to people, challenges and events that will most resemble what your ideal journey into the world of Global Impact Network looks like.
And we call it Impact citizen because you truly are one. You are a citizen of the world and a change-maker, ready to showcase their impact!
And what functions are there on the platform?
We keep on adding exciting things all the time to help you truly utilise the tools to make you the sustainability champion you want to be, but for now, let us break it down:
The home tab is where you can navigate your experience from — depending on whether you use the platform from mobile or desktop, it is located on the top (desktop) or bottom (mobile) of your screen. From left to right you have home, events, country data, notifications, profile and communities.
They are in different colours, because who doesn’t need more colour in their life?
Home is where you see the activities of everyone you follow, their impact and posts, the leaderboard and where you can make impact yourself through the widgets. Don’t forget to interact with your fellow change-makers and show some love, it’s great to see this community thrive!
Events is where you are able to participate and host virtual and in-real-life events! And yes, you get a lot of extra points for doing that. Don’t forget to check in people to the event you are hosting and invite your friends via the links.
Country data shows you where countries around the world’s progress towards the SDG’s are. We find it very motivational to see how much you contribute towards your own goals, but towards the country and global goals.
Notifications don’t need no explanation, right? We promise you won’t be bombarded by them and you can mark them all as read.
Profile is who you are on GIN. Customise it as much as possible to have the best experience.
Communities is the exciting newly launched space where you can create or participate in communities that would allow for you to feel a part of the people you relate to, or want to learn more of. From NGO’s to charities, to clubs, and the best part is, you will meet so many new people.
The Impact Score you receive from the challenges and events you participate in, rounds up to specific numbers that are your personal impact score, which reflects on your rank on the Leadership Board.
You can filter it out by country, SDG and friends to make it fun and interactive!
